Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 1994. Rai has acted in over 40 movies in Hindi, English, Tamil and Bengali, which include international productions.

Alexandria Mills Miss World 2010 attends China launch

Miss World Alexandria Mills and Chairman of the Miss World Organisation Julia Morley were in Beijing today to attend the launch of this year's national final for the People's Republic of China's entry into Miss World 2011.

This year's competition carries three themes of "love", "green" and "happiness", and the eventual winner will hope to embody these three characteristics. The auditions, heats and semi-finals are due to take place across the country over the coming months, with the final events scheduled for August in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province.
