A Room Reveals A Wedding {Soft Seaglass & Honey Mustard}

Because I've been on a bit of a mustard kick, I knew I wanted to design an inspiration board around this color, and as it's been quite a while since we've had one, I thought it time for A Room Reveals A Wedding post.

Today's inspiration room has an eclectic feel with both vintage and modern elements present; it features a bold splash of honey mustard tempered by soft seaglass and white.

Inspiration Board {Seersucker Summer}

Nothing says summer quite like seersucker; along with linen, it is a quintessential fabric of the season, worn to help battle the heat and humidity of the warmest days. For a summer wedding, a color palette of blue, white, and yellow paired with seersucker elements is perfectly suited for staying cool in the hot, hot sun.

Inspiration Board {4th of July}

The 4th of July is a holiday I absolutely love, not only because I adore choosing a festive outfit, as I mentioned yesterday, but because is a day that is often filled with family, friends, fabulous food, and, my favorite, fireworks. It is a day that seems to lend itself perfectly to not only celebrating the ol' Red, White, and Blue, but a casual outdoor summer wedding as well.

Inspiration Board {Lakeside Wedding}

I mentioned yesterday my fondness for lake getaways in summer, and a lakeside wedding seems like it would be absolutely perfect for the season.

While I can't say I have ever considered the combination of red, yellow, and green in anything other than a stoplight, it just happened to develop as the color scheme of this board, and somehow, it seemed to work.

Inspiration Board {Summer Fun & Games}

We are focusing on things to love about summer this week, and for today's Wedding Wednesday, we have an inspiration board for a celebration that fully embraces the season.

This wedding would be a playful, afternoon affair for close family and friends. Both ceremony and reception would take place outside, and the day would be filled with classic games including croquet and badminton.

The decor for this event would be colorful and cheerful, while the food would be simple and reflective of the season with items such as burgers, blueberries, and ice cream on the menu.

A Room Reveals A Wedding {Seafoam & Sunshine}

For this week's Wedding Wednesday, we are continuing our look at the color palette of seafoam with hints of gold and champange with A Room Reveals A Wedding.

The inspiration room incorporates not only seafoam, gold, and champagne, but olive green and golden yellow as well, creating a refreshing, yet energetic palette. The space is traditional, but with a playful and slightly eclectic air, and the wedding, like the room, would be traditional with a twist.

A Room Reveals A Wedding {A Softer Shade of Blue}

Since last week, "Three Elements" made an appearance following a long leave of absence, I thought this week I would bring back "A Room Reveals A Wedding" from an even longer one.

Our inspiration room for this week features soft shades of butter, peach, aqua, periwinkle, and grey, and these colors would easily translate into a soothing palette for a wedding.

Three Elements {Kentucky Horse Farm}

It has been an awfully long time since I've posted an inspiration board and even longer since I've done a Three Elements post (funny, the last time I did such a post, I said the same thing...) This week's Three Elements, as part of Horse Week, were inspired by the beauty of Kentucky horse farms.

The first board is for a more formal and traditional bride with a hint of old-fashioned elegance. A rich palette of colors, including chestnut, emerald green, and soft peony pink, would echo throughout the decor of the day. Mint juleps would be served in their traditional silver cups, and in celebration of a Southern favorite, the wedding cake would be a delicious red velvet.

The second board is a bit more casual and has an upscale, down-home vibe. This bride is a woman who doesn't mind mucking out the stalls for her beloved horses and who draws inspiration in the colors surrounding her in the barn. A warm palette of red, mustard yellow, chestnut, and kraft-paper brown would provide the backdrop for the day, and Southern comforts, such as buttermilk biscuits and bourbon, would fill guests bellies.

For Auld Lang Syne

It may be because of my bias, but I think that a New Year's Eve wedding shared with your closest family and friends might be the most perfect way to ring in both the coming year and the new chapter in your life.

With a gold and white color scheme, this inspiration board feels perfectly suited for the holiday, and it could also easily translate into a regular New Year's Eve bash as well.

Candy Cane Lane

It has been far too long since I've done a Three Elements post, so I thought today would be a great time to incorporate one as I continue with the red and white streak.

For the first board, I envisioned a bride who runs traditional in her tastes and who loves the romance of winter and the holidays. She would want her wedding at a quaint country inn, from where she and her husband would make a sleigh-ride getaway. She loves the combination of red and white for the holidays, but she especially loves red, a color that speaks to her of romance. She would even indulge in a second dress for her reception, a dramatic red gown that she envisions wearing in the years to come.

In the second inspiration board, this bride loves the holidays equally as much, but she has a more modern sensibility. Her wedding would take place in a white-washed city loft, and she would want her color palette to follow suit; since she loves red and white at the holidays, this bride would incorporate small touches of red into her wedding day, while keeping white as the predominant hue.

A Room Reveals A Wedding {The Road to My Heart}

In keeping with the theme of the week, today's Wedding Wednesday features a map inspired "A Room Reveals A Wedding." This room, which was seen in my last post, is lovely in its simplicity.

For the inspiration board, I imagined a wedding that had those same qualities. As opposed to heavy florals in the decor, there would be an emphasis on candles and their warm light. There would, of course, be a nod to maps, and the color scheme would be white and black, with the addition of warm browns (echoing the wood floor and end table in the inspiration room.)

Birds of a Feather

Since I am on a bit of a feather kick (see here and here.) I wanted to create a board that highlighted the use of feathers in the attire and decor for a wedding, and the brown and black feathered shoes and hair piece in this board felt like perfect inspiration for a late fall or winter wedding.

A Room Reveals A Wedding {A Mod Mix}

I really like the composition of this room with the mix of patterns and colors, and I think it would translate well into a chic and modern wedding.

Three Elements {Cal-a-Vie}

Since I didn't post an entry for Wedding Wednesday yesterday, I thought I'd post a Three Elements today.

A few days ago, Joni posted about Cal-a-Vie, a spa in southern California. Looking through the photos, I was struck by how lovely the Chapel was, and I immediately wanted to incorporate it into an inspiration board.

The first inspiration board is lush with shades of yellow, orange, and green and features lemons (and some oranges) in the decor. As I said before, I love fruit incorporated into a wedding!

The second board is more muted than the first and features natural linen accented by chocolate brown and lavender. While I can't say that lavender is my most favorite color, when I saw the agapanthus in the photo of the entry to Cal-a-Vie, I knew that it would be a perfect shade for one board.

Three Elements {An Apple A Day}

I always love the incorporation of fruit into a wedding's decor, and fall is a perfect time to put apples to work.

I absolutely loved the table trends that Chelsea Fuss created for Once Wed last week; the arrangements were simply beautiful. The first inspiration board this week incorporates a few of those images. While the first board features a color palette that could work easily in spring and summer, the second board is quite decidedly inspired by fall.

The three elements incorporated in "An Apple A Day" are an orchard setting, apple pie, and the use of apples as part of the decor.

A Room Reveals A Wedding {A Relaxed Elegance}

This is the first post of "A Room Reveals A Wedding," a new segment that will be featured on Under A Paper Moon. I enjoyed Cassandra's Inspiration Board Contest so entirely that I wanted to be able to showcase this concept on a regular basis.

Inspiration for weddings can come in many forms, and one such source can be a room, which speaks to a person's style and taste. In "A Room Reveals A Wedding," a room's mood and design will be interpreted into an event inspiration board.

This first inspiration room is an elegant, yet relaxed bath featured in Homes & Gardens. I love the tranquility in this space; it's very easy to imagine unwinding in this bath after a long day. Through the use of warm-hued whites, accents of tan, brown, and green, and varying textures, the bathroom feels quite inviting.

We may not win every game...

In the center of The University of Mississippi's campus lies the Grove, a beautiful park full of trees. On any given day, you may find students sitting at tables and lying on blankets, reading, studying, and socializing. A stream of people pass through the Grove during the day, as they walk between buildings on campus, but, despite the traffic, the park retains an air of peace and calm. While the Square is the heart of Oxford, the Grove, especially on a home football game day, is the heart of Ole Miss.

A favorite saying among Ole Miss fans is, "We may not win every game, but we've never lost a party." The Grove is where those parties take place on days of home football games, and the trees seem almost hidden by the tents that stretch as far as the eye can see (no cars allowed!) Shouts of "Hotty Toddy," the cheer and greeting used between Rebel fans, are heard frequently on football Saturdays.

Ole Miss fans have escalated tailgating to an art in the Grove. With elaborate food spreads in every tent, silver platters hold enough fare to serve the hosts and any guests who might stop to visit. Flower arrangements adorn tables covered with fine cloths, while candelabra and chandeliers provide lighting. None of this seems out of place against the backdrop, until you remember this is tailgating for a football game.

When I arrived at school as a freshman, I was unaccustomed to Game Day traditions. The unspoken requirements of game day attire baffled me completely; women wore heels and dresses, while men sported khakis and collared shirts. Dressing up for a football game? It sounded completely absurd.

On the day of the first home game that year, I found myself standing in a familiar place, yet staring at a scene that was completely foreign. The area I knew to be so peaceful and calm was suddenly overwhelming. I stared at the vast sea of tents dotting the horizon, and it felt as though the space had multiplied endlessly; finding a specific tent seemed a near impossible feat. I fumbled my way through that first hot Saturday, all the while cursing the blisters on my high-heeled feet.

After a few games, I realized that it no longer felt overwhelming to head to the Grove. Finding specific tents still proved difficult at times, but it was easier done with friends, and while I made my way through the maze of poles, I found myself taking in the beauty and unique atmosphere surrounding me.

I grew to love the fashion of game day; by the end of college, wearing jeans and sweatshirts to a game seemed as preposterous as the notion of wearing dresses and heels once had. The blisters? Those never seemed to get better. In all four years, no matter how comfortable the heels seemed, inevitably the end of a day spent "Groving" was met with searing pain in my feet. But I loved every minute of it.
